5 Mexico City Airbnbs for $75 or Less

For avid cooks, the pleasures of travel include not just eating out, but also experimenting with local ingredients by cooking at home. That's why we're such big fans of staying in vacation rentals, which allow us to break out the pots and pans whenever we want.

From chiles to chocolate, salsas to fresh cheeses, Mexico City's markets overflow with ingredients that would tempt any home cook, and these five apartment rentals have spacious, dreamy kitchens to accommodate any cooking project, from a simple quesadilla to a complex mole. Best of all, they're each reasonably priced at less than $75 per bedroom per night. Don't forget to pack your apron!

1. Gorgeous Apartment in Downtown Art Deco Building, from $46 per night

If you're looking for accommodations close to the historic city center's attractions, this bright, airy apartment located in a 1920s Art Deco building makes a great choice. The spacious, fully equipped kitchen has granite countertops, new appliances, and plenty of storage space, so you'll easily be able to take on expansive cooking projects.

2. Authentic Condesa, from $37 per night

An excellent choice for travelers who like to be in the thick of it all, ultra-hip Condesa is great for going out, eating, drinking, and clubbing; when you want to retreat to your apartment, though, this clean, modern, comfortably furnished two-bedroom fits the bill. And its cheerful red kitchen comes fully equipped with a full-sized refrigerator, range, and oven (the latter sometimes hard to find in Mexico City kitchens), plus a microwave and a coffeemaker.

3. Beautiful Flat in Colonia Roma, from $74 per night

Roma, the restaurant-packed neighborhood just to the east of Condesa, is Mexico City's best for eating out, but when your palate needs a break from all that fine-dining fare, step into the welcoming kitchen of this dreamy, creamy-hued apartment. Equipped with shiny stainless steel appliances, including a four-burner gas stove, a full-sized fridge, and even an oven, it's an ideal spot to cook up a leisurely meal.

4. Incredible Studio with Sunny Terrace, from $52 per night

Another Roma gem, this lovely studio apartment features shiny hardwood floors in the bedroom area, colorful, glossy tiles in the kitchen and dining room, and a cozy little terrace ringed with potted ferns. It's surprisingly spacious for a studio, and the sun-drenched kitchen takes up a lot of that square footage with a full-sized fridge, an oven and range, a microwave, coffeemaker, and plenty of counter space. Best of all, it opens right out onto the terrace, for those delicious mid-cooking-session breezes.

5. Exquisite Condesa Apartment, from $124 per night

This two-bedroom apartment is the splurgiest of the bunch, but it's significantly roomier than our other picks, with two bedrooms, two bathrooms, and a small terrace. Beautiful furnishings throughout include a velvet couch, a decorative brick fireplace, and mod wicker benches. The adorable kitchen features lovely hardwood cabinetry inset with glass, and makes efficient use of a small space with a tiny four-burner range and oven, a microwave, and a kitchen cart topped with a beautiful butcher block.
